Did you know that it is possible to crochet a project using lots of small motifs, without having to sew them all together? This is a technique that Kristin Omdahl explores in her latest book called Seamless Crochet.
This book includes a nice library of motif patterns, plus instructions for complete projects you can crochet using the motifs. The book also comes packaged with a DVD, which I have not yet had a chance to watch, but I am looking forward to viewing it.
Work-In-Progress Photo of the Lace Flower Motif From Seamless Crochet. Pattern is by Kristin Omdahl. Crocheted and Photographed by Amy SolovayI've begun crocheting some of the motif patterns and projects included in this book; pictured at right is one of my first attempts. It's a lovely lace flower motif which can be made into a hat using one of the patterns from the book. Keep in mind that this isn't finished, and it will need to be blocked in order for the lace pattern to look its best. Even so, it's really pretty, don't you think?
I'm excited about this book for several reasons: the projects are appealing, and I'm thrilled to have such a nice library of join-as-you-go motifs charted out and ready for use. This is the best reference I've yet found on the topic of crocheting seamless join-as-you-go motifs.
