Pictured here: two similar squares I crocheted using a Christmas tree / pine tree design from my series of mix and match crochet squares. They're both made from the same pattern, but I used different colors in each.
For those of you who don't celebrate Christmas, the pine tree motif is a versatile one that can be used year-around, and it's especially nice during the whole winter season. The tan, green and blue square became part of my custom crochet afghan, which is not even a little bit "Christmas-y," although it's pretty warm and would make a nice gift. One nice thing about it is that it can be used all fall and winter long, not just during the month of December. It could even be used in the springtime, if you live in an area where spring nights are chilly enough to warrant the use of an afghan.
I like this design, and I'm thinking of using it in other ways as well; it would make cute potholders if crocheted in kitchen cotton. For those of you who bake Christmas cookies, it would be fun to have new potholders on hand when you get cooking.
I'm sure you can think of plenty of other creative ways to use these squares, and I hope you will have fun with them.
