Tapestry Crochet Baby Blanket - Photo © Amy SolovayOne-color crochet projects have their place, and so do striped projects; but there's no reason to be afraid of intensely colorful projects like the one you see pictured here. This baby blanket is an eyeful of color; although each square is crocheted using only three colors, when you put them together the result is vibrant and colorful.
For some of you, this may seem like too much color, and there's a remedy for that as well. If you use the same three colors repeatedly in each afghan square, the result is still colorful but not quite so busy. You can see a couple of examples:
The secret to each of these designs is tapestry crochet, a technique that allows for mid-row color changes. For those of you who haven't learned this technique yet: if you're comfortable with single crochet stitch, and you have enough experience with it that you can maintain even tension throughout any single crochet project you work, you are ready to learn how to do tapestry crochet. Thank you for sharing this gorgeous sampler blanket. It was my first try at tapestry crochet. It took me many hours but it turned out beautiful. I used all the soft baby colors but did my own combos. I single crocheted the squares together and put a ruffle border. I would upload a picture if I knew how. Thanks again for the pattern and the inspiration.
