A Crocheted Afghan for Baby Girls: The Heart Sampler Patchwork Baby Afghan - Photo © Amy SolovayThis baby afghan is crocheted in a glorious array of "girly" colors -- pinks, purple, and peach -- with even more colors, such as yellow, green and blue, thrown in for good measure.
I enjoyed crocheting this design; using different colors kept the process interesting for me. The pattern involves quite a bit of repetition; the same basic heart design and checkerboard design are repeated over and over again. If you choose to use different colors for each square, as I did, it's fun seeing how each one turns out. Of course, if you'd prefer an afghan that's a bit less busy, you could use the same colors to crochet each square. You can see an example of how that would look in the coral version of this pattern.

Great pattern and colors! Girly, but the blues, greens and yellows keep the pink from being overwhelming.
I totally agree with Susan about the blend of colors keeping the pink from getting to be too much. And I could see how to easily adjust the color scheme for a little boy. …. After all, we *all* need to be wrapped up in love!
I really love this, as both a child, and adult, repeating patterns which don’t quite, endlessly intrigue and engage that part of me which loves a puzzle
This would be a lovely gift for my little niece. It’s darling. Great work!
It is adorable! And the choice of colours couldn’t be better!
