A hot trend lately: decorating hats and headbands with crocheted flowers. It's really easy to get this look with our free crochet patterns! Just choose a hat pattern or a headband pattern, and then choose a flower pattern for making a flower that you think would work well with your chosen design. Crochet both pieces in yarns that would look nice together. Embellish the flower if you like, and then attach the flower to the hat or headband using our easy instructions for attaching appliques.

Another idea: you can use crocheted flowers to embellish store-bought hair accessories such as metal hair clips, plastic headbands, or fabric head wraps. My friend Mireille uses her hot glue gun to accomplish this, although there may be better ways to attach the flowers, depending on what your accessories look like. Personally I'd be more inclined to stitch the flowers to the base if it is at all possible to do so. Either way, it's super easy, and reasonably quick, to pretty up your store-bought goodies with a touch of handmade love.
