I find it almost mind-boggling to think of all the different things I could make with craft wire. It's one of those inspiring multi-purpose materials that I really enjoy working with, despite some of the pitfalls (which I've written about in my article titled "crocheting with wire".)
I've discovered that sometimes I can take crochet patterns for simple things, and make the same design using wire rather than the recommended yarn or crochet thread. So, depending on the specific pattern, project and materials used, the result could be a wire pendant, or perhaps something along the lines of a wire sculpture (for bigger / more dimensional pieces.)
Pictured here, you see an example of what I'm talking about. I used this easy pattern for a flower applique, and I crocheted it using wire to create this flower pendant. I later took the pendant and transformed it into this necklace. I'd love to try this idea using a variety of other patterns to see what other interesting designs I could come up with. I hope you'll find the idea inspiring too.
