Here's an interesting, and easy, variation of single crochet stitch. It's called a spike stitch, otherwise known as long single crochet stitch. You can see the spike stitches in green; they're the longest stitches you see pictured. The other stitches shown are all ordinary single crochet stitches.

I want to compliment you on the spike tutorial and thank-you for the way you kept the instructions on one page so that printing it was easily done.

The photos are fantastic-your very well written text combined with photos is going to make learning this beautiful stitch a lot easier.

Having the tute all on one page means I can open ONE pdf file instead of several which is an especial help when learning a new stitch. It is a bit of a pain to print (copy to pdf files) when instructions are on several pages because I have to keep track of which page I’m pdf’ing and while I can manage it by remembering to type ‘p1, p2, p3′ etc, opening several pdf files at the same time to follow instructions is a real pain. I’ve passed on several tutes (here and on other about.com pages) because of the tutorial having several pages.

I LOVE when tutorials are all on ONE page, and I really love this stitch. Well done, Amy!
