Cross stitch a design on the towel topper in your choice of pattern. Use the squares created by the single crochet stitches as a guide for placing your X's.

This butterfly cross stitch chart is the right size for stitching on your towel topper. Use embroidery floss to stitch the design. Add some metallic thread touches, if desired. This design is also suitable for crocheting a butterfly design into your towel topper as you go along, if you wish to crochet it that way.

Preparing Kitchen Towel:

Cut towel in half. Using hand or machine sewing, make a gathering stitch about 1/4 inch from unfinished edge of towel. Gather top of towel to fit within the bottom flaps of the towel topper. Gathering stitches should be hidden between the two bottom flaps. Pin in place and sew together. The easiest method is to sew the back flap down first, by hand or machine; then sew the front flap. This way you can position the front flap to cover any stitches that might be showing from sewing the back flap in place.

To Hang Towel:
Options

Plastic Ring: Attach crochet cotton thread to plastic ring, sc around ring until covered. End off. Weave in ends. Sew ring to top of towel topper.

Ribbon: Sew a length of ribbon to each side of top edge of towel topper. Tie ends together about 2 inches from ends of ribbon, or tie in a bow if desired.
