Materials Used In The Example: Worsted weight yarn -
Color A - Red Heart Super Saver color Cafe (beige), Color B - Dark Purple
US size H hook
Finished Size: When made with the materials listed above, the finished size is
about 3 1/2 inches wide and 10 1/4 inches long (when folded with short ends sewn together).

Starting Chain: chain 62.
Rnd 1: (work in one loop only of the starting chain so that there will be a
remaining loop left for each chain that will be used when crocheting the second part of this round),
sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in ea ch across until one ch remains on this side, 3 sc in last ch,
then working in the remaining loops on the opposite side of the starting chain, sc in ea ch across this second side,
then make 2 more sc in the same ch as the first sc made in this round, sl st in first sc of this round.
Rnd 2: ch 1, sc in first sc (the same sc that the sl st was made in at the end of
Rnd 1), skip next 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc for a shell, skip next 2
sc, (sc in next sc, skip next 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc for a shell, skip next 2
sc) 8 times, sc in next sc, skip 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc, skip 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc,
(ch 2, 2 sc in next sc) twice, then skip 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc, skip 2 sc,
(sc in next sc, skip next 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc for a shell, skip next 2
sc) 8 times, sc in next sc, skip 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc, skip 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc,
(ch 2, 2 sc in next sc) twice, end with sl st in first sc of this rnd.

Rnd 3: change to color B. ch 3 (counts as first dc), make 2 more dc in the
same st as ch-3 just made, * (skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, 5 dc in next sc)
9 times, then skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, 3 dc in next sc, dc in next sc,
(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp, dc in ea of next 2 sc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp,
dc in next sc, ** 3 dc in next sc, repeat the directions between * and **, then sl st in the
top of the beginning ch-3 of this round.
Rnd 4: ch 1, sc in first dc, * hdc in next dc, dc in next dc, dc in next sc,
dc in next dc, hdc in next dc, sc in next dc **, repeat the directions between * and **
9 more times, then sc in ea of next 3 dc, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in next ch-1 corner space,
sc in ea of next 6 dc, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in next ch-1 corner space, sc in ea of next 4 dc,
*** hdc in next dc, dc in next dc, dc in next sc,
dc in next dc, hdc in next dc, sc in next dc ****, repeat the directions between *** and ****
9 more times, then sc in ea of next 3 dc, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in next ch-1 corner space,
sc in ea of next 6 dc, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in next ch-1 corner space, sc in ea of next
3 dc, sl st in beginning sc of this round.
End off, leaving a strand for sewing the two short ends together. Weave in ends.
Joining: Lining up the two short edges, fold the piece in half, with the wrong side
facing you. Thread the yarn strand on a large-eye needle and sew one short end to
the other short end. Fasten the yarn end and weave in the end to secure it on the back of the
piece. Turn the headband right side out.

Edge Round On Top Edge: Attach color B in the first ch-2 space to the left of the joining.
ch 1, sc in same ch-2 sp, sc in ea of next 4 sc, * (the next stitch should be an sc) work a
long sc in the dc in the row below that sc, sc in next hdc, sc in ea of next 3 dc, sc in
next hdc **, repeat the directions between * and ** 9 more times, then work a
long sc in the dc in the row below the next sc, sc in ea of next 5 sc, sc in ch-2 space,
make one more sc near the joining area, then sl st in the first sc of this round.
End off. Weave in ends.
Edge Round On Bottom Edge: Repeat the directions for Edge Round, same as worked on the top edge, working this round on the opposite edge of the headband.
