Materials used In The Example: Worsted weight yarn, Color A - Red Heart Super Saver color Delft Blue, Color B - White, Color B - TLC Essentials color Shaded Denim
US Size H crochet hook

Finished Size: 7 1/2 inch diameter. If you want an 8 inch square, work one more round of single crochet around the outside edge.

Starting Chain: With color A, chain 24.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in ea ch across. (23 sc)
Row 2: ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in 2nd sc, (ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next sc) 10 times, then dc in last sc.
Note: Refer to my Star Filet Photo Tutorial, if needed, when crocheting Row 3.
Row 3: ch 1, sc in ea of first 2 dc, next, make first star filet stitch as follows: draw yarn through same dc just worked in, draw yarn through next ch-1 sp, draw yarn through next dc, then draw yarn through all 4 loops on the hook and ch 1 to close the star stitch. * For next star filet stitch, draw yarn through same double crochet just worked, draw yarn through next chain-1 space and draw yarn through next double crochet, then draw yarn through all 4 loops on hook, chain 1. ** Repeat from * to ** 8 more times, then sc in last dc.
Row 4: ch 3 (counts as first dc), * dc in top of next star stitch, chain 1, (skip the ch-1 that closed the star stitch just worked in) **, repeat the directions between * to ** 9 more times, then dc in next sc, dc in the last sc.
Rows 5 - 14: Repeat rows 3 and 4, consecutively.
Row 15: Repeat Row 3.

Outside Round 1: ch 1, working down the side of the piece, sc in the end of the row just worked, * 2 sc around the post of the dc on the edge of the next row, sc in end of the next row **, repeat the directions between * and ** 6 more times, then ch 2 for the corner, sc in each stitch across the next side, then ch 2 for the next corner, sc in the end of the first row along the next side, * 2 sc around the post of the dc on the edge of the next row, sc in end of the next row **, repeat the directions between * and ** 6 more times, then ch 2 for the corner, sc in each stitch across the next side, ch 2, sl st in the first sc of this outside round. End off color A.
Outside Round 2: Attach color B in any ch-2 corner space. ch 1, sc in first sc after the ch-2, * sc in each sc across the side, (sc, ch 2, sc) in the ch-2 of the next corner **, repeat the directions between * and ** 3 more times, then sl st in the first sc of this round. End off.

Outside Round 3: Attach color C in the ch-2 corner space on the right-hand side of the top of the square. ch 1, sc in first sc after the ch-2, [ sc in next sc, * long sc in row below next sc, sc in ea of next 2 sc **, repeat the directions between * and ** 6 more times, sc in next sc, for corner work (sc, ch 2, sc) in the corner ch-2, then working along next side: sc in next sc, * long sc in row below next sc, sc in ea of next 2 sc **, repeat the directions between * and ** 6 more times, long sc in row below next sc, sc in next sc, for corner work (sc, ch 2, sc) in the corner ch-2 ], repeat the directions between [ and ] once, then sl st in the beginning sc of this round. End off. Weave in ends.
