I charted this design in the form of two charts so that you could follow Chart 1 to crochet the colors in for the basic background color shapes (so that you would be working with no more than two colors in any row), then follow the second chart to add the other details in cross stitch (doing the cross stitch with yarn of the same weight as your crocheted background).

The Color Key shows various Embroidery Floss brand numbers for anyone who wishes to work the design in traditional cross stitch on aida cloth. Or ... if you crochet a background square in size 10 thread with a steel hook about size 8, you could use embroidery floss to cross stitch this design on the thread crocheted background also (for a mini wall hanging).


The chart is 50 squares wide. To crochet from this chart, the starting chain is 51 chains for single crochet or 50 chains for afghan stitch. The chart is 50 squares high (so there will be 50 crocheted rows). To follow the chart, one square on the chart equals one single crochet stitch.
