From crochet.about.com - Min and Max V-Stitch Triangles Afghan Square

Using v-stitches -
Triangle shaped openwork portions combined with solid sections form the mini triangles and larger triangles design. This square is the same size as my Triangle Windows Square, Triangle Trio Square, Little Triangles Square and my Semicircles Square, so these could be combined within an afghan that is made of joined squares.

Materials Used In The Example: About 1/3 oz. worsted weight yarn, US size H hook
Finished Size: About 7 inches square (without outside round), About 7 1/2 inches square (with outside round added). For an 8 inch square, add one additional outside round in single crochet.
Gauge: 2 dc rows = 1 inch, 7 dc = 2 inches
Abbreviations: ch = chain, dc = double crochet, ea = each, sc = single crochet, sl st = slip stitch, v-st = v-stitch

The photo on the right shows the look of two squares joined, where one square is upside-down so that the two row 13 edges are placed together.

How To Slip Stitch (sl st) = Insert hook in stitch, wrap yarn over hook, pull yarn through the stitch and through the loop on the hook, at the same time.

V-Stitch: In this pattern, a v-stitch is made by crocheting (dc, ch 1, dc) all in one same stitch.
