You can change the personality of this little reindeer by making the
eyes in different ways. Shown below are some various ways
that I did the eyes ... maybe you'll have fun coming up with lots more
variations of your own.

Optional shading detail: If desired, add shading to the
head piece and two ear pieces (which will be on right side when assembled),
using a darker color of yarn and a large-eye yarn needle. Make shading
in plain straight stitches.
|
Assembling pieces:
Ears Weave in (to wrong side of ear) the yarn end that's at row 5.
The other yarn ends can be tucked inside the main reindeer head pieces
before joining those, so you won't have a lot of ends to weave in.
Holding two ear pieces with wrong sides together, attach yarn
at end of row 1, then (working through both thicknesses to join pieces and
, if you shaded, with right side of ear with shading facing you)
slip stitch in end of each row along one side of ear to the end of that side (at row 5),
next, chain 2 (this creates a point at end of the ear), then slip stitch
in end of each row along other side of the ear, ending at end of row 1.

blue cabochon dots |
Using yarn and a large-eye yarn needle, sew one ear to each side of the
reindeer head, with edge of each ear tucked slightly behind (wrong
side of) head piece.
|
Antlers Sew antlers in place at top of head piece, tucking bottom edge of each
antler slightly behind (wrong side of) head piece.
Head Holding wrong sides together, using yarn of matching color and
large-eye yarn needle, join two head pieces with a whip-stitch, catching
one back loop of each piece with each stitch. (Tuck in left-over yarn ends
of the pieces to inside of head where possible, if you'd like to avoid weaving
in these yarn ends.) Stuff head very lightly with polyester fiberfill
(if desired) before closing.
Nose Glue acrylic cabochon on or sew on a round button for the nose.
 |
Eyes Glue on purchased wiggly eyes or make eyes from black and
white felt. Use acrylic cabochon shapes for eye centers, if desired.
Tiny blue acrylic cabochons were used in center of eyes in this example.
|
Hanger Attach strand of gold crochet thread to center top of head, tie
strand together 1/2 inch from top of thread strand.
