From Crochet at About.com: Daisy and Black-Eyed Susan Flower Afghan

These daisy and black-eyed susan flower squares can be joined for a "Daisy Patch" Afghan. A variety of afghans shown below in different color placements using these two flower designs (click on each thumbnail pic to go to the larger images).

The blocks could be made any of three ways: Cross stitch on single crochet, cross stitch on afghan stitch or by crocheting colors in, following the chart. I did this one as cross-stitch on afghan stitch background. Click here for the color chart to crochet the Black-Eyed Susan square.

Click here for the color chart to crochet the Daisy square. In this example, I worked the chart in afghan stitch with worsted weight yarn, using a US size J afghan hook. This resulted in a block that was longer than wide (8" x 6 1/2").

Here are a few color placement ideas for you or you may enjoy thinking up some of your own. Examples are with 25 blocks made in afghan stitch and a finished size of 41" x 32 1/2" (this includes one border round of double crochet on assembled afghan). You may wish to make a smaller or larger afghan. The examples are just to give you a few ideas to spark your own creativeness. I created the color charts for the Daisy and Black-Eyed Susan based on my adaptation of a daisy filet crochet design originally printed in 1916 in the pattern book The Ladies' World Filet Crochet Book No. 2. Length of Copyright Protection Terms
