Star-shaped Face cloth/Dishcloth Free Pattern

Need a quick gift, but special, with a personal touch? Crochet a face cloth or two. Put them in a small wicker basket with a few bath items, such as scented face soaps.

8-point Star Cloth Pattern

Materials

1.50 oz. Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn
Size H crochet hook

Directions
Mark the beginning of each round. A safety pin works well for this.
Rnd 1: ch 4, join with sl st to form ring; 8 sc in ring.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in ea st around. (16)
Rnd 3: *sc in next st, 2 sc in back loop of next st, repeat from * around. (24)
Rnd 4: *sc in next 2 st, (sc, ch 4, sc) in back loop of next st, repeat from * around. (32)
Rnd 5: sc next 2 st tog for dec, sc in next st, (2 sc, ch 4, 2 sc) in ch 4 space, *sc in next st, sc next 2 st tog, sc in next st, (2 sc, ch 4, 2 sc) in ch 4 space, repeat from * around; end sc in last st.
Rnd 6: sc in next 2 st, sc next 2 st tog, *(2 sc, ch 4, 2 sc) in ch 4 space, sc next 2 st tog, sc in next 3 st, sc next 2 st tog, repeat from * around 6 more times; end with (2 sc, ch 4, 2 sc) in ch 4 space.
Rnd 7: *sc in next st, (sc next 2 st tog) 3 times, sc in next st, (2 sc, ch 4, 2 sc) in ch 4 space, repeat from * around 7 more times.
Rnd 8: *(sc next 2 st tog) twice, sc in next st, (sc next 2 st tog) twice, (2 sc, ch 4, 2 sc) in ch 4 space, repeat from * around 7 more times.
Rnd 9: *sc in next st, sc next 2 st tog, sc in next 2 st, sc next 2 st tog, sc in next st, (2 sc, ch 4, 2 sc) in ch 4 space, repeat from * around. End sl st in next st. End off.
Rnd 10: Re-attach yarn in any chain 4 space. *(2 sc, ch 1, 2 sc) in ch 4 space, ch 4, sk next 4 st (leaving them unworked), 5 dc in next st (shell made), ch 4, sk next 4 st, repeat from * around. End round with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 11: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next st, (sc, ch 1, sc) in ch 1 space, sc in next 2 st, 4 sc in ch 4 space, ch 1, sk next dc, sc next 2 dc tog, sk next 2 dc, 4 sc in ch 4 space, *sc in next 2 st, (sc, ch 1, sc) in ch 1 space, sc in next 2 st, 4 sc in ch 4 space, ch 1, sk next dc, sc next 2 dc tog, sk next 2 dc, 4 sc in ch 4 space, repeat from * around. End sl st in first sc.
Rnd 12: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 st, *(sc, ch 1, sc) in ch 1 space, sc in next 6 st, sc next 2 st tog, sc in next 6 st, repeat from * around. (Last repeat will end with sc in next 3 st, instead of in next 6 st.)
End off. Weave in ends.
