Scallop Medallion Pattern

This pattern is crocheted entirely with chains and single crochet stitches. I've included a step-by-step photo how-to, showing how to crochet the scallop design of the medallion.
This scallop design was used as part of larger designs in the early 1900's. Understanding how to crochet this scallop medallion can be helpful in crocheting other antique patterns that you may come across (which use this scallop as just part of the overall pattern).

6 sc in unfinished loop, |
sc in ea sc of round 1 to end of row (on this side), 3 sc in end sc,
sc in ea of next 2 sc, then make scallop along other side (same way as above):
ch 8, sk 8 sc of previous row, sc in next sc, ch 8, sk 8 sc of previous row, turn, 13 sc in first ch-8 loop (scallop made),
7 sc in next ch-8 loop (which will cover only half of this loop, for now), turn, ch 8,
sc in center sc of the 13-sc scallop (the center sc is
the 7th sc of the scallop), turn,
13 sc in ch-8 loop, 6 sc in unfinished loop. Turn, sl st in the back
loop only of each sc of the entire scallop. Note: Slip stitch
loosely enough so buckling along the edges will not occur. Next, 2 sc in next
sc of round 1, 3 sc in end sc, 2 sc in next sc, sl st in the back
loop only of each sc of the entire scallop,
sl st in beginning sc of round.
To finish: End off. Weave in ends.
