Crescent Moon Shape Potholder
Designed by Sandi Marshall

This version is worked in the same basic pattern as the round one, with a few more increases in row 4 to vary the shape. Make a front piece only, folded in half, for the crescent moon shaped potholder, to complete this potholder set.

Rnds 1 - 3: Work same as rounds 1 - 3 of circle front above.
Rnd 4: With color A, ch 2, dc in same st as ch 2, dc in next 2 dc, the next stitch should be directly above the 3rd dc of color A in row 2 below; make sure that you are at this correct stitch to begin this next set of directions. *dtr around post of 3rd dc of color A in row 2 below, do not work the dc of row 4 which is now directly behind the dtr just made. Keeping to an increase pattern of (dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc) around, and each time you are ready to work the st which is directly above the 3rd dc of color A in row 2 below, dtr around the post of this 3rd stitch of color A in row 2 below. End row by joining with sl st in beg ch 2.
Rnds 5 - 7: Follow same directions as rounds 5 - 7 of circle front above.
End off. Weave in ends.
Finishing: With wrong sides together, fold potholder in half; join yarn color A in end stitch. Working through both edge thicknesses, to join edges, sc in each dc along edge. End off. Weave in ends.
Attach yarn color A to a plastic ring. Single crochet around ring to cover. End off, leaving a 7" tail; sew to top edge of potholder.
