Drawstring Sachet or Jewelry Bag
Abbreviations

dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
sc = single crochet

Materials
#10 Crochet Cotton
Size 8 steel crochet hook
apprx. 9" of 1/8" wide ribbon
Finished size: Bag (without ruffle) measures 2 1/2" wide x 3 1/4" high.
Height (with ruffle) is 4 1/2".
Directions (Make 2)
Starting Chain: Chain 22.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook. sc in ea ch across. Turn. (21 sc)
Row 2: ch 4, 3 dc in next sc, *ch 1, skip 2 sc, hdc in next sc,
ch 1, skip 2 sc (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next sc)* repeat * to * one time;
ch 1, skip 2 sc, hdc in next sc, ch 1, skip 2 sc, 3 dc in next sc,
ch 1, dc in last sc. Turn.
Row 3: ch2, *skip the 3 dc half shell, in sp between 1st and 2nd dc
of next shell, make 3 tr; ch 1, then working over the 3 tr just made,
make 3 tr between 1st and 2nd dc of half shell just skipped;
sc in next ch 1 sp*. Repeat * to *, end sc in last dc. Turn.
Row 4: ch 3, 2 dc in same st, ch 1, hdc in ch 1 sp in center of shell
of previous row, ch 1; (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in sc of previous row)*,
repeat * to * one time, ch 1, 3 dc in last st. Turn.
Row 5: Repeat row 3.
Rows 6 - 13: (Repeat rows 3 and 4) four times.
Row 14: Repeat row 4.
Ruffled Top:
Row 15: (drawstring holes) ch 2, hdc in same st, *ch 2, skip 2 st,
hdc in next st*, repeat * to * across, hdc in last st.
Row 16: ch 3, 2 dc in same st, *skip 2 ch, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next hdc)*,
repeat * to * across.
Row 17: ch 3, dc in next st, *3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in the ch 1 of shell
of previous row; 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in sp between shells of previous row*,
repeat * to * across, end dc in last st.
Row 18: Repeat row 17.
Row 19: (optional) For a fuller ruffle, repeat row 17 again.
The photo example shows a bag which is done with
this extra row of ruffle added.
Place the two completed pieces with right sides together and sew three sides together, with a large-eye needle and with the same thread used to crochet the bag ... or crochet three sides together with slip stitch (leave top open). - How To Join Crocheted Pieces - When joining is completed, turn bag right side out.
Beginning to weave through at center front, weave ribbon through drawstring holes of row 15. Tie in a bow in the front.
