Crochet Seams

Learn About Crochet Seams and the Different Methods for Creating Them

By

Crochet can be totally seamless if you want it to be; but, if you want to learn how to create flawless seams for your crochet projects, here are some methods and instructions you can use.

Materials List:

If you want to sew your seams, the first thing you'll need is a tapestry needle. The second thing you'll need is some yarn or crochet thread. Often, you'll want this to be in the same color, weight and fiber as the project you are seaming.

If you'd rather crochet your seams together, you'll need a crochet hook instead of the tapestry needle.

You might think of seaming as a mundane task that requires zero creativity, but if you do, I hope you'll reconsider. Your seams will greatly affect the look of the finished item, and in some cases the seams you choose can even make or break the entire project.

Depending on the project, seaming can be just as creative as any other part of the project. There are quite a few creative decisions to make along the way: the type of seam you use, the color(s) you choose for seaming, perhaps even the loops or stitches you work through.
