This photo shows a close look at fringe strands tied in two layers to form a knotted design. There are many possibilities for ways to tie fringe in knotted patterns, if you feel like playing around with it to see what you come up with. This photo shows one example of a way to knot the fringe strands, that I figured out as I went along.
In the scarf example on this page, I made traditional long strands of fringe, then tied these strands in the method used in my crocheted chain fringe how-to. I carried it one step further by tying a second layer of knots about 2 inches below the first knots. As you can see in the photo, in starting the second layer of knots, I left the edge fringe hanging and started with the next one in (and did the same on the other edge).
