On the photo above, the crocheted piece has the first three rows of the chart crocheted. These three rows are all in open mesh. I crocheted this chart design in a filet crochet 3-dc mesh, because that allows the finished piece to be more square (closer to the look of the chart) than a 4-dc mesh would.

3-dc Mesh Written Instructions For This Chart

Starting Chain: (for a 3-dc mesh) - chain 49.

Row 1: dc in 7th ch from hook, (ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch) 21 times.

Row 2: ch 4 to turn, skip first ch-1 sp, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc) 20 times, ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch.

Row 3: Repeat row 2.
