The wrong side of the piece is facing while crocheting row 9, which is why the deer is facing the opposite way from the chart in that photo. I crocheted this chart design in a filet crochet 3-dc mesh, because that allows the finished piece to be more square (closer to the look of the chart) than a 4-dc mesh would.
