This snowflake design coaster is large enough to be used with a big mug of hot chocolate. I crocheted examples in pastel colors but you might have other favorite colors in mind to use.

Abbreviations: ch = chain, ea = each, dc = double crochet, rnd = round, sc = single crochet, sl st = slip stitch, sp = space, st = stitch, sts = stitches

Materials: about 1/8 oz. any worsted weight yarn for the main color, small amount of white for outside round, US size H hook

Finished Size: About 6 1/2 inches when made through round 6. When round 7 is added, coaster is about 8 inches wide at widest point (from tip of one 3-picot group to tip of the 3-picot group on opposite edge). You can vary the finished size by using a different weight of yarn and different size of hook.

Pattern Note: When making any picot in rounds 6 and 7, where the pattern says to "sl st in first ch" of a ch-3 or ch-4, the slip stitch is made in the first chain that was made for that ch-3 or ch-4 (not in the chain closest to the hook).
