An afghan crochet hook  is longer than a traditional crochet hook, typically measuring at least 10 inches long or longer. Afghan crochet hooks are intended to accommodate large numbers of active loops, in contrast to the typical traditional hook which is only intended to accommodate one, or several, active loops at a time. This type of crochet hook is also sometimes called a "Tunisian crochet hook."
