Colors:

  • Pink
  • Lemon
  • Mint
  • Pale Blue
  • Soft Lilac

There are two different rows that alternate to create this stitch repeat: the first is a row of V-stitches. See row 1, where the Vs are worked into the foundation chain, and row 3, where the Vs are worked into spaces from the previous row. The second is the row of single crochets and chains. See row 2.

These rows are worked in different colors throughout to create the design pictured.

Anticipate color changes at the end of every row. When you reach the last stitch in each row, work all the steps except the last step in the old color. To complete the stitch, draw through a loop of the new color. Work your turning chain and the next row in the new color.

V-Stitch Definition

Work 1 dc st, 1 ch st, and 1 more dc st in same ch or sp.

The starting chain is a muliple of 4 + 9. Using pink, crochet your starting chain.

Row 1 (V-Stitch Row): Working in pink, dc in 4th ch from hook, (ch 1, skip next 3 chs, V-st in 4th ch from hook.) Repeat sequence in parentheses all the way across the row. When you get to the end of the row, work a dc in each of the last 2 chs. Change colors to lemon.

Row 2 (Single Crochet and Chains Row): Ch 1, turn.

Sc in each of the first 2 dc sts. (Sc in ch-1 space, sc in next V-st, ch 3, sc in same V-st.) Repeat sequence in parentheses all the way across the row. When you get to the end of the row, Sc in the last ch-1 space, then work 1 sc in each of the last 2 sts. Change colors to mint.

Row 3 (V-Stitch Row): Ch 3, turn.

Skip the first sc; turning chain counts as the first dc. Dc in next sc. (Ch 1, V-st in next ch-3 space.) Repeat sequence in parentheses all the way across the row. When you get to the end of the row, ch 1, then work 1 dc in each of the last 2 sts. Change colors to pale blue.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn.

Work another row of scs and chs as row 2, only in pale blue. At the end of the row, change colors to soft lilac.

Row 5: Ch 3, turn.

Work another V-stitch row as row 3, using soft lilac. At the end of the row, change colors to pink.

Row 6: Ch 1, turn.

Work another row of sc and chains as row 2. At the end of the row, change colors to lemon.

Row 7: Ch 3, turn.

Work another V-stitch row as row 3, using lemon. At the end of the row, change colors to mint.

Row 8: Ch 1, turn.

Using mint, work another row of sc and chains as row 2. At the end of the row, change colors to pale blue.

Row 9: Ch 3, turn.

Work another V-stitch row as row 3, using pale blue. At the end of the row, change colors to soft lilac.

Row 10: Ch 1, turn.

Using soft lilac, work another row of sc and chains as row 2. At the end of the row, change colors to pink.

These 10 rows form the basic stitch repeat. At this point, start over again with row 1 in pink, working it into the spaces from the previous row.
