Using Leaves and Tiny Flowers Chart for Silhouette Cross-Stitch

Chart © Sandi Marshall. Licensed to About.com, Inc

This design, charted by Sandi Marshall, features leaves and tiny flowers on a single stem that faces diagonally.

To work this design as a solid color silhouette cross-stitch on a crocheted background that is the same size as the chart:
Starting chain is 41 chains for single crochet or 40 chains for afghan stitch. Crochet 40 rows.

Read the chart as one square on the chart equaling one single crochet (or one afghan stitch). Using a large-eye yarn needle, do cross-stitch in yarn of the same weight that you used to crochet the background. If you crochet the background piece with thread, you could use embroidery floss to do the cross-stitch.
