Crochet is well-suited to making flower-shaped designs, and flower coasters are fun projects to work on.

  • Pictured at left: A flower coaster which was crocheted without any yarn; instead of yarn, the materials used are strips of cotton fabric. The design is a modified version of this free flower pattern; I used a longer starting chain (9 stitches instead of 6) to accommodate the bulkier materials used.
