This photo shows more Halloween appliques added to the Ghost with Bat Banner. Following are instructions for crocheting the chain of five chain links that is shown on the banner. Ghost Spider instructions are on the next page. If you missed it: Ghost with Bat Free Chart

Chain of 5 Chain Links
Materials: Can be made with any yarn or thread. In the example, I used Caron Simply Soft color Limelight with a US size H hook. Finished size is about 5 inches long x 3/4 inch wide. If made with size 10 thread and a US size 8 steel hook, chain size is 2 inches long x 6/8 inch wide.
Starting Chain: ch 7, join with a sl st to form a ring.
Links: 3 sc in ring, * ch 7, sl st in sc just made, twist the piece (in the direction away from you), with the next unworked ring now being on the left, ready to be worked in next, make 3 sc in the chain ring just made **, repeat the directions between * and ** 3 more times, then make 4 more sc in last chain ring made, make 4 sc in unworked side of ea of next 4 chain rings, sl st in first sc made in first chain ring.
End off. Weave in one end. Leave the other end for attaching the chain link to the banner.

I also added two 3x5mm red pony beads to the ghost eyes on the banner, sewing them in place with regular sewing thread.
