Gauge: 4 sc = 1 inch, 4 sc rows = 1 inch
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
ea = each
rnd = round
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
How To Slip Stitch (sl st) = Insert hook in stitch, wrap yarn over hook, pull yarn through the stitch and through the loop on the hook, at the same time. A slip stitch does not add any height and is used to join a chain or stitch to another place in the crochet piece.
Granny Square Center
Starting Chain: With Color A, Chain 4. Join with a slip stitch, to form a ring.
Granny Square Rnd 1: With Color A, ch 3, 2 dc in ring, (ch 3, 3 dc in ring) 3 times, ch 3, join with a sl st in top of the beginning ch-3. End off.
Granny Square Rnd 2: Attach Color B in any corner loop. Ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) in same corner loop, * sc in ea of next 3 dc, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next corner ch-3 loop **, repeat directions between * and ** twice more, then sc in ea of next 3 dc, sl st in top of beginning sc of this rnd. End off color B.
