How to make the cluster - Step 5: yarn over hook, pull yarn through the loop on the hook to make one chain that will close the cluster ... the photo above also shows another chain-1 made that is in addition to the chain that closed the cluster (since this cluster was made with a chain-1 on each side of the cluster, to make some space around the cluster, to show it off better). The photo now shows a completed cluster that was made over skipped stitches. The photo also shows the next double crochet made for the pattern in progress.
