Continue referring to the filet crochet chart, as you follow the written instructions for each row shown on the chart.

More Abbreviations: sp = space

Note that as you turn the crocheted piece after each row, you will then be following the next chart row in the opposite direction. Rows 1-3 on this chart would be the same from either direction but later rows will need to be followed in the correct direction so it will be good to establish that now. On this chart, Row 1 (beginning at the bottom of the chart) would be followed (read) from right to left so Row 2 would be the opposite (followed from left to right).
Row 3 On Chart (read right to left): ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in ea of next 2 dc, ch 1, skip next ch-1 sp, (dc in next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp) 46 times, dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next ch-1 sp, dc in ea of last 3 dc. (1 solid mesh, then 1 open mesh, then 46 solid mesh, then 1 open mesh, then 1 solid mesh)
Row 4 On Chart (read left to right): ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in ea of next 2 dc, ch 1, skip next ch-1 sp, dc in ea of next 3 dc, (ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc) 44 times, dc in ea of next 2 dc, ch 1, skip next ch-1 sp, dc in ea of next 3 dc. (1 solid mesh, 1 open mesh, 1 solid mesh, 44 open mesh, 1 solid mesh, 1 open mesh, 1 solid mesh)
