Chain Stitch Video #1 -- Edna Kurtzman demonstrates how to crochet the chain stitch in this video. Basic Afghan Stitch Crochet Video
The afghan stitch goes by many names; it is also called the "Tunisian Simple Stitch," or the "Idiot stitch," among other things. No, I'm not making that up; I seriously found it called by that name in an old crochet manual from 1882 (The Dictionary of Needlework). Apparently, the premise behind the not-too-PC name is that this stitch is so simple, even an idiot can do it. While I much prefer the name "afghan stitch," and am not all that comfortable with the "Idiot stitch" identifier, I do have to say that I enjoy having easy stitches like this one in my crochet knowledge base.
