This blue, white and red striped potholder is a color variation of my Christmas potholder pattern. The design is exactly the same; the only changes are the colors of yarn and embroidery floss used. See a side-by-side comparison of the two potholders.
This variation of the potholder is great for using on patriotic occasions such as the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Veteran's Day-- but it would be appropriate to use all year around.
Yarn:
For each potholder, you’ll need a total of approximately 3 oz. of worsted weight cotton yarn. You'll need yarn in 2 different colors: color A and color B, approximately 2.5 oz color A and about .5 oz color B. In the sample shown above, light blue is color A and white is color B.
The sample was worked in Peaches & Creme 4 ply cotton yarn in light blue and white. Feel free to substitute any similar cotton yarn if you prefer.
Embroidery Floss:
3 skeins of red floss. The sample was made using DMC embroidery floss, but you can use any brand. I do recommend choosing a colorfast floss, since you'll need to be able to wash your potholders and you don't want the colors to bleed.
