This little crocheted bow can be handy to add to other items for a quick accent. Using a metallic yarn or thread makes this bow into a pretty Christmas applique.

Abbreviations Used: ch = chain, dc = double crochet, sl st = slip stitch

Leave a 5 inch long strand at the beginning and at the end to use in sewing the bow to the item.

Beginning chain: ch 4
(dc, ch 2, sl st) in 4th ch from hook (this is the center), ch 3, (dc, ch 2, sl st) in center, (ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook , sl st in each of next 3 ch, sl st in center) twice. End off, leaving the 5 inch long strand to use to sew the bow to the item.

Materials: Use any yarn weight or thread size of your choice, with a hook size to correspond. Some common combinations are:

  • Worsted weight yarn with a US size G or H hook
  • Sport weight yarn with a US size F hook
  • Size 10 thread with a US size 7 or 8 steel hook
