You can learn how a crocheted curlique is made while making this hair accessory. The curliques give a fun look to this scrunchie.

Abbreviations: ch = chain, chs = chains, ea = each, dc = double crochet, rnd = round, sc = single crochet, sl st = slip stitch, sp = space, st = stitch, sts = stitches

Materials: about 1/8 oz. any worsted weight yarn, US size H hook, a purchased hair elastic

To begin: Attach yarn around the hair elastic.
Rnd 1: ch 1, sc in the elastic ring, (ch 5, sc in the ring) 11 times then ch 5, sl st in first sc of this round.
Rnd 2 note: Each curlique is made along a chain-9, with 4 sc in each chain to make the curls happen.
Rnd 2: * ch 9, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 4 sc in ea of next 7 chs, sl st in sc at base of ch-9, then ch 4, sc in next ch-5 sp, ch 4, sc in same ch-5 sp, then ch 4, sc in next sc **, repeat the directions between * and ** 10 more times.
End off, leaving a strand for weaving in. Weave in the ends, to secure.
