Learn about tapestry crochet using this collection of free tapestry crochet tutorials, patterns and books.
Tapestry crochet is one of my favorite techniques, and I've used it as the basis for quite a few crochet projects.
I consider colorwork to be one of my greatest strengths as a designer. During the course of my career as a textile designer, I spent several years working as a print colorist; the job involved working with the color palettes developed by many of the USA's major retailers. I was able to get a great sense of how colors work together and how to use color effectively in various textile designs. I draw on those experiences when designing colorful new tapestry crochet patterns for you, and I share all the patterns with you for free. I hope you will make good use of them!
Tapestry crochet is ideal for many different types of projects, so you'll find a wide variety of different patterns included on the list. Since tapestry crochet tends to produce fabric that is dense and warm, it is ideal for creating items such as afghans, afghan squares and scarves. I particularly love using this technique to crochet colorful baby blankets.
Tapestry crochet is also ideal for using in projects that require some stiffness, such as baskets and bowls. Additionally, tapestry crochet is a useful technique for creating items that need to be sturdy, such as tote bags, market bags, and purses.
