Row 2: ch 5 (counts as a dc and a ch-2), skip first ch-2 space, dc in next dc, ch 3, insert hook between the posts of the 3rd and 4th dc of the 6-dc shell (below the top loops normally worked in, with the hook inserted between the two double crochet stitches) and work a dc in that place. Work 5 more dc in that same place between the posts of the two stitches (this is known as "crocheting between two dc"). Next, ch 3, skip next 3 dc of the 6-dc shell, skip next ch-3 space, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next dc. Leave the rest of the row unworked.
