This narrow wristband has color accents that are made with surface stitches.

Materials: any worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors (cotton yarn is best if for hot weather summer use or any fiber for other times of year): color A (I used white), color B (I used a multicolor with bright colors)
size H hook

All Base Wristband rows are worked in the back loop only, which is important to give stretch to the piece.

Base Starting Chain: Chain 9.
Base Row 1: sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in ea ch across. (8 sc)
Rows 2 - 22: ch 1 to turn, sc in back loop only of ea sc across. (8 sc)
At end of last row, end off, leaving a long strand to use for a slip stitch joining that will be done after the Surface Stitches are completed.

Note: The 22 row size fits an average teen or ladies wrist (and will fit over the hand with the available stretch). Make fewer rows to fit a smaller wrist or more rows for a larger wrist.

Surface Rows

Attach color B in the remaining loop of the 2nd sc of the 2nd row of the Base Wristband.

Work in the remaining loops only when crocheting all surface stitches.

Surface Line of Stitches 1: ch 1, (working in remaining loop of each sc), sc in same place where yarn was attached, * ch 4, skip next row, sc in remaining loop of 3rd sc of next row, ch 4, skip next row, sc in remaining loop of 2nd sc of next row **, repeat the directions between * and ** as many times as needed to reach the other short end of the band. After the last sc made, chain 4. End off, leaving a strand fow sewing, leaving this chain-4 dangling for now (it will be joined later to the opposite side after the band short ends are joined together).

Next rotate the piece (so that the surface line of stitches you just worked in is now on the left-hand side of the band) and the piece is in position ready to work the next line of surface stitches on the unworked side edge.

Surface Line of Stitches 2: Repeat the Surface Line of Stitches 1 directions along the second edge of the band.

Fold Base piece in half, with the right sides together, lining up the two short edges (keeping the dangling final chain-4 parts inside, being careful not to accidentally catch them when joining). Slip stitch in each stitch across the Base Wristband short edge, working through both of the two short edges at the same time, to join. End off. Weave in ends. Turn right side out.

Sew end of last ch-4 of one side to the first sc of the Surface Line of that side. Sew end of last ch-4 of the opposite side to the first sc of the Surface Line of the other side. Weave in ends.
