Project Title and Brief Description
Original Breast Cancer Support Group Afghan
My original design
Why Was This Your Best Project From 2010?
This afghan was my original design. It was made for our local Breast Cancer Support Group to help raise funds for transportation from Alturas, CA to Klamath Falls, OR for local ladies to get their mammograms. We live in a small community and our hospital no longer has equipment for mammograms. Without these funds many ladies might miss having their mammograms done.
The afghan turned out beautiful as they do each time I make one which is every year.
I guess my main like was that it was colorful and that it will raise lots of money for the group.
Lessons Learned
- The stitches were all easy to do since I designed it.
- I learned some basic elements of designing an afghan and sticking with it until it was done. It had over 1000 --2 1/2" squares.
- I also learned more about friendship and compassion since I know most of the ladies in this group and have watched them go through this disease.
